Fast and Furious 8 Movie Details

The eighth edition in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise (The Fate of the Furious) revolves around a mysterious hacker Cipher (Charlize Theron) who tries to seduce Dom (Vin Diesel) into the dangerous world of terrorism.

Eight movies into ‘Fast and Furious’, one would think the testosterone-fueled concept of speeding cars that defy the laws of physics would begin to start losing steam. But Vin Diesel with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jason Statham and crew manage to keep our eyes glued to the screen just for the sheer spectacle of complete mayhem that ensues.

Top 9 Reasons to Watch Fast and Furious 8 Full Movie

#1 You can judge the quality of each successive instalment of the petrolhead Fast & Furious franchise by its opening action sequence. Here, the action revs up with a car chase around the streets of Havana. One of the first Hollywood movies to shoot in Cuba, F&F8 effectively uses one of the most photogenic cities on Earth as a display cabinet for vintage hotrods and buttocks.

#2 In Fast and Furious 8, Vin Diesel turns back on his family and all hell breaks loose. Here is our Fast and Furious 8 movie review.

#3 The race is between a turbo-boosted Cuban loan shark and Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) in a disintegrating clown car. Powered by distilled testosterone alone, Dom wins the race, driving backwards, consumed in a fireball, without brakes. The writing is scorched into the tarmac: this episode is aiming for new levels of high-octane silliness.

#4 There’s much to enjoy when cars are flying around the screen, even if logic takes flight with them. Some of the sequences are absolutely preposterous but make for such a dazzling display of destruction, they allow you to appreciate the sheer audacity of the filmmakers to even conjure them up! Traditional for big-budget films today, the plot leaves room for yet another outing, although at this point one wonders how much gas is left in the tank of this franchise.

#5 For the longest time, the Fast and Furious series has been an exercise in testing mankind’s patience for cartoonish action – like a multi-billion-dollar lab experiment gone way out of hand.

#6 On literally any other occasion, the sight of million-dollar cars parachuting down from the sky, or chasing down a cargo plane down a 45 km runway, OR Vin Diesel soaring across the sky Superman-like, would’ve been one outlandish move too many. We were there right with them till they’d restricted themselves to dragging 3-tonne bank vaults across Rio de Janeiro, but not anymore, no.

#7 A person with peroxide/platinum blond hair, some amount of digital prowess, and fuzzy ideas about bringing the superpowers to their knees – should Julian Assange have got himself a plane (big), dreadlocks (many) and acquired lissome inches (several), he could have had ideas regarding The Fate of the Furious, aka the eighth film in the Fast and the Furious franchise.

#8 As the case is, we have ourselves a Charlize Theron as the digital whiz-kid ‘Cipher’. She is wicked, she is evil, she is stunning, and she rules this one, without even getting behind a wheel. Yes, Ms Theron appears like she is here to stay. And about time too.

#9 Toretto et al have clearly outgrown street racing. Unlike the earlier films, there is only one drag race through the streets of Havana, which is—naturally—won by Mr Fast and Furious Dom Toretto. The banter between competing colleagues Roman and Tej for Ramsey’s attention is amusing. Plus they find a whipping horse in rookie Little Nobody (Scott Eastwood). While Emmanuel has very little to contribute, Diesel glowers and Rodriguez flounders when required to emote. It’s down to Theron, Russell and Mirren to add acting heft.
